Gaudete: The It's Not Quite Christmas Yet Concert
During “Gaudete: the It’s Not Quite Christmas Yet Concert,” the ONU Wind and Symphony orchestras will present a program that includes Tchaikovsky’s "Nutcracker Suite," Copland’s "Variations on a Shaker Melody," and "Psalm and Fugue" by Hovhaness.
The Ohio Northern Symphony is a hybrid orchestra comprised of a highly select group of students, faculty and professionals. The symphony performs at least four programs a year, and enrollment is open, by way of audition, to all University students regardless of major.
The ONU Wind Orchestra, directed by Dr. Thomas Hunt, performs collegiate- and professional-level literature for wind band. Membership is by competitive audition held at the beginning of the school year. In May 2014, the group traveled to Europe for a 13-day concert tour. The next tour is scheduled for May 2017 and will include concerts in Germany and Luxembourg as well as three days in Berlin.
