Polar Sustainable Entrepreneur Pitch and Poster competition

Ohio Northern University's James F. Dicke College of Business Administration will host the Polar Sustainable Entrepreneur Pitch Poster competition in the Dicke Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
Fourteen high school students and 17 Ohio Northern University students are scheduled to compete. The high school competition begins at 4 p.m. with an awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The ONU campus-wide competition starts at 6 p.m.
Students can compete in two categories, an elevator pitch or a poster competition, for cash prizes. The high school students, who reside in Ohio, New York and Michigan, will compete for up to $3,000 a year in renewable scholarships to attend Ohio Northern.
The ONU students will compete for $1,000 in cash prizes. One winner from each category will receive $50. The overall elevator-pitch winner will receive $250, and the overall poster winner will receive $250. All prizes were made possible through the generosity of the Kern Family Foundation.
The elevator pitch is a concise and well-thought-out presentation of a business idea or new products. Participants have 90 seconds to pitch their idea without the use of props.

The poster competition is one step away from a completed business plan. Individuals need to be prepared to ask for help with development issues, launching issues or financing issues.
These competitions aim to encourage creativity, innovation and the entrepreneurial mindset in the next generation of business and civic leaders while challenging the best young minds from across the Midwest to create and share ideas for improving the world.
