Ohio Northern’s University Singers will begin their spring tour on Feb. 25 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and continue through March 6 in Athens, Ga.

Their home concert will be 7 p.m., March 13 at Presser Hall on the ONU campus.

The 2011 spring tour will include church and high school concerts in Cincinnati, Ohio; Memphis, Tenn.; Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; Orlando, Fla.; Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Athens, Ga. Last fall they toured to churches and high schools in Lima and Bluffton, Ohio, as well as in Naperville and Wilmette, Ill. Four years ago the spring tour took the choir overseas to Estonia. A tour to England, Scotland and Wales is being planned for the winter of 2012.

The spring tour will feature faculty accompanist Mary Jane Eichelberger on organ. Piano accompanist is Adam Fahncke, senior music major from Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Maggie Sant, sophomore pharmacy and music major, will be featured on French Horn.  Associate conductor is Timothy Smith, senior music education major from Westerville, Ohio. Brianna Bizzaro, junior music education major from Port Allegany, Pa., and Eric Smith, senior music performance major from Toledo, Ohio, serve as assistant conductors.

Selections to be performed include Basler’s work with French Horn “Songs of Faith,” “Sleep” by Eric Whitacre; “You are the Music” by Forrest also with French Horn; “Jubilate in C” by Britten; “The Lord Is My Light” by Ferguson; “Justorum animae” by Jackson; “I Am Not Yours” by Dickau; “Lamentations of Jeremiah” by Stroope; “Verleih uns Frieden” by Mendelssohn. The concert will close with spiritual selections including “Give Me Jesus,” arranged by Rodgers; “City Called Heaven,” arranged by Poelinitz and “John the Revelator,” arranged by Caldwell and Ivory.

As a long-standing tradition, the final selection will be John Ness Beck’s “Benediction” which features the seniors of the choir.
