Second annual Polar Bear indoor marathon, half marathon, and relay

Jan 12, 2011

Ohio Northern University will host the second annual Polar Bear indoor marathon, half marathon, and relay in the ONU Sports Center on Sunday, Jan. 30, at 7:30 a.m. The event benefits ONU’s cross country and track and field teams.

The course will consist of 211 laps around the 200-meter indoor track for a marathon runner, 105.5 laps for a half-marathon runner, or 70.3 laps per person in a relay. A member of the ONU cross country or track and field team will count each runner’s lap and record his or her times. There also will be a timing system and digital clock on display at the event.

At the end of the race, the first male and female finisher of each distance group and the winning relay team will receive an award. This year, 40 runners from 10 different states will compete, including seven runners returning from last year.

Spectators are welcome, and seating will be available adjacent to the track. Spectators are asked not to run on the track or bring pets.
