College of Law Seeks Nominations for Annual Pro Bono/Public Interest Award

Nominations are now being accepted for the ONU College of Law's Annual Pro Bono/Pubilc Interest Award in recognition of exceptional pro bono and public interest service by ONU College of Law alumni/ae, students and faculty members.

Past recipients include William Huber, Esq., St. Marys, Ohio; Professor Victor Streib, Ada, Ohio; Ms. Beth Breier, coordinator of the Innocence Project; and C. Andrew Haag, Esq., Canton, Ohio.

In this, the seventh year for the award, awards are authorized for the one year period ending May 31, 2007. It is anticipated that the award(s) will be presented at the College of Law Honors Banquet which is to be held on April 18, 2007.

The Faculty’s Pro Bono/Public Interest Committee will evaluate letters of application from students, colleagues or alumni/ae. To be eligible, the person to be recognized must engage in volunteer public interest or pro bono services. Public interest litigation includes advocacy or litigation, or both. Persons employed by legal services programs are eligible.

The faculty of the College of Law has endorsed the granting of the award to expand commitment to providing pro bono and public interest service to members of our communities.

To nominate someone, or to nominate yourself, please write a letter describing the nominee’s qualifying activities during the past year. Your letter and any supporting materials that are appropriate should be submitted by March 16, 2007 to:
