Introducing the New ONU.edu

The Ohio Northern University Web site is getting a makeover. Over the next few weeks, the Office of Communication and Marketing is installing a new design on the ONU Web site, which will dramatically change the look and feel and provide visitors with an improved online experience.

ONU, Kroger Team Up to Develop Community Pharmacy Residency Program
Ohio Northern University's Raabe College of Pharmacy and Kroger have teamed up to launch the Kroger-ONU Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) Community Pharmacy Residency Program. Qualified postgraduate, first-year residents will spend time at designated area Kroger pharmacies to experience innovative patient-care opportunities.

Jazz Ensemble to Perform Holiday Concert
The Ohio Northern University Jazz Ensemble will perform its holiday concert at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Dec. 16, at 8 p.m.

'Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical'
Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the award-winning tale "Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical" on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at 10 a.m. Tickets are on sale now.

MLK Day Celebration Set
Ohio Northern’s 2011 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday celebration, honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will be 7 p.m., Jan. 11 in the English Chapel, sponsored by the Cultural and Special Events Committee. The theme will be “Equity in Education: Are We there Yet?”  with speaker Tracy Love, BSPH ’57, HOF '94.

Sebok Pharmacy Lecture to Welcome Executive Director of National Association of Boards of Pharmacy
Dr. Carmen A. Catizone, executive director of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), will be the guest speaker for the second annual Sebok Pharmacy Lecture established by the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy. Catizone will deliver his lecture, “Quality of Care: Can Pharmacy Measure Up?,” in the ONU Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m.

River North Chicago Dance Company to Appear with ONU Dance Company
Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the River North Chicago Dance Company with the ONU Dance Company on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at 2 p.m. The Saturday show also will feature a pre-show discussion at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

Block Named Acting Vice President for Advancement
Executive Director for Development Ken Block will be the Acting Vice President for Advancement, replacing Tom Stevick who moves on to be Vice President at Eastern Michigan University Dec. 17. Dr. Kendall Baker said: "We appreciate Tom's dedicated service to the division and the University and wish him the very best in his new position. I know Ken will continue Tom's excellent leadership and that the division, with its help, commitment and outstanding work, will continue to grow and develop. Please join me in welcoming Ken to his new responsibilities."

Werling Talks About Yellow Ribbon Program at ONU

Betsi Werling, assistant director of financial aid and a VA certified official, has authored an article about the Yellow Ribbon Program for veterans at ONU in Student Aid Transcript, a publication of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators

Scholarship Days Coming in January, February
Faculty, staff and alumni are invited to take part in three scholarship interview days, Jan. 22, 29 and Feb. 12. To learn more, contact Courtney Nign in the Office of Admission, ext. 2263.

Entry to the ONU Sports Center, along with the fitness room and weight room, now requires a valid ONU ID Card. The Sports Center will be closed to any and all recreational activity and walkers over break. The building will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17 and will remain closed until 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011. The only exception will be for ONU-sponsored athletic events.

Pi Sigma Alpha Grant to Host Speaker
ONU’s chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society, has received a grant of $848 from the national organization to help fund a speaker on campus.

‘Peace on Earth’ Topic for Cultural Conversation Hour

The Office of Multicultural Development will host its monthly Cultural Conversation Hour from 11:45am - 12:45 p.m. Dec. 16 in Heterick Library Room 301.

Student Juried Art and Design Exhibition Opens
The annual Student Juried Art and Design Exhibition which will be on display at the Elzay Gallery of Art from Dec. 6–17.

Northern Without Borders Plans Summer Trips
Northern Without Borders will be travelling to the Dominican Republic this summer, July 16- 23, July 23-30, and July 30- Aug. 6. During any of the three weeks, we will be organizing medical clinics, engineering projects, education projects and much more.  If you were unable to attend the general meeting on Dec. 14, contact a-tyger@onu.edu for more information.
