Jazz Ensemble to perform holiday concert

The Ohio Northern University Jazz Ensemble will perform its holiday concert at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Dec. 16, at 8 p.m.
The program features 15 pieces the ensemble can choose from, including “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “A Big Band Christmas II” and “Angels We Have Heard on High.” The group also will perform a number of non-holiday songs. The performance will be directed by David Kosmyna and guest director Gene Parker.
Miriam Stoner, a sophomore musical performance major from Bellefontaine, Ohio, will sing with the group.

“Miriam is terrific jazz vocalist. Her voice has a nice presence with the big band; she can swing, and she carries a blues tinge to her style,” Kosmyna said. “She’s very easy to work with and respectful of the musicians. In the jazz world, sidemen appreciate that a lot.”
The event is free and open to the public. For more information about the ONU Jazz Ensemble holiday concert, visit
