Students, Professor Present Research Findings at Neuroscience Conference
Two students from ONU’s Department of Psychology and Sociology presented their research findings from work completed in the laboratory of Dr. Phillip Zoladz, assistant professor of psychology, at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience.

16th annual Holiday Spectacular
Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the 16th annual performance of Holiday Spectacular now at the Civic and Convention Center in Lima on Friday, Dec. 10, and Saturday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m.

Sebok Pharmacy Lecture to Welcome Executive Director of National Association of Boards of Pharmacy
Dr. Carmen A. Catizone, executive director of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), will be the guest speaker for the second annual Sebok Pharmacy Lecture established by the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy. Catizone will deliver his lecture, “Quality of Care: Can Pharmacy Measure Up?,” in the ONU Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m.

Open Enrollment Insurance Planning Sessions Set
Informational sessions/workshops about ONU's insurance open enrollment are scheduled for:

Professor Publishes Paper on Efficacy of Antidepressant
Dr. Phillip Zoladz, assistant professor of psychology, has published a manuscript entitled “Beneficial Effects of Tianeptine on Hippocampus-Dependent Long-Term Memory and Stress-Induced Alterations of Brain Structure and Function” in the journal Pharmaceuticals.

Boyadzhiev Publishes Article
Khristo Boyadzhiev, professor of mathematics, has recently published the article, “The Euler Series Transformation and the Binomial Identities of Ljunggren, Munarini, and Simons,” in the journal Integers.  His article shows how Simons’ identity follows from the Euler series transformation and also from Ljunggren’s identity.  He also shows how two results that Munarini has obtained follow from a generalized Euler series transformation.

Scholarship Days Coming in January, February
Faculty, staff and alumni are invited to take part in three scholarship interview days, Jan. 22, 29 and Feb. 12. To learn more, contact Courtney Nign in the Office of Admission, ext. 2263.

Toy Drive
The ONU Lions Club toy drive has begun. The toys will be donated to underprivileged children by a local charitable organization, Love Inc.

Eyeglasses Recycling
The ONU Lions Club is collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids throughout the entire year.

Klondike Raffle
The Ohio Northern University Support Staff Association (ONUSA) will be raffling off a retired Boyd’s Bear named Klondike. The drawing will be Dec. 14.

ONU ID Needed for Sports Center Entry

Entry to the ONU Sports Center, along with the fitness room and weight room, now requires a valid ONU ID Card.

Bookstore Holds Holiday Sale, Food Drive
Tuesday, Dec. 14 is the ONU Bookstore’s annual holiday sale and food drive. Donate at least one canned or non-perishable food item and receive a 20 percent discount on your entire purchase. Items included: regular priced clothing (no clearance items), emblematic gifts, and school supplies. Textbooks, food items and electronics are NOT included in the sale. The holiday season can be especially tough for those less fortunate, so please be generous. All donated food will be given to a local food bank.

Phi Beta Delta to Host Panel of War Veterans

The Ohio Northern University Phi Beta Delta International Forum will sponsor a panel discussion by three ONU students who served multiple deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan before attending Northern. The panel, "ONU Military Veterans Discuss Their Recent Middle East Deployments," will meet in the Dicke Forum on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m.

Ashley Overy Talks About Her ASHP blog
Ashley Overy, a fifth-year pharmacy major from Grafton, Ohio, was interviewed during the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting in Anaheim, Calif., for her work as an ASHP blogger. She talks about how social media opportunities help her share experiences with other students and stay connected with family and friends. Overy is a national student representative on the ASHP Council on Pharmacy Management for the 2010-11. The council focuses on professional policies related to the process of leading and directing the pharmacy department in hospitals and health systems. With the current national focus on health care, the council is very involved with considering the impact of health care reform on hospitals and health systems.

Student Juried Art and Design Exhibition Opens
The annual Student Juried Art and Design Exhibition which will be on display at the Elzay Gallery of Art from Dec. 6–17.

Northern Without Borders Plans Summer Trips
Northern Without Borders will be travelling to the Dominican Republic this summer, July 16- 23, July 23-30, and July 30- Aug 6. During any of the three weeks, we will be organizing medical clinics, engineering projects, education projects and much more.  If you are interested in travelling with Northern Without Borders this summer, you must attend the general meeting on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. in room HPPEC 161.

Senior Luke Miller was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler as the No. 19-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team placed fifth with 102 points at the 30th Annual ONU Wrestling Invitational Saturday at the ONU Sports Center.
