Pitts Speaks at Conferences in Turkey
Dr. Jonathan Pitts, associate professor of English at ONU, currently on leave as the Fulbright Senior Lecturer in American Studies at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, recently spoke at two conferences in Turkey.
On Nov. 4, he presented a paper at the American Studies Association of Turkey conference in Alanya, on the Mediterranean coast.
On Nov. 10 in Ankara, he was one of three featured speakers, along with American Book Award winner Debra Magpie Earling and Navajo writer Luci Tapahonso, at the Native American Voices conference at Hacettepe University. He read from his creative nonfiction work on living with the Crow Indians and met with a visiting delegation of Native American tribal leaders.
