Mathematics and Statistics Students and Faculty Present at Miami University Conference

Senior mathematics major, Ashley Risch from Hudson, Ohio, presented the paper, “A Phi-bonacci Sequence,” at the 27th Pi Mu Epsilon Student Conference at Miami University on Sept. 24, 2010.  Pi Mu Epsilon is a Mathematics Honor Society.

At the same time mathematics and statistics faculty members, Drs. Khristo Boyadzhiev and Larry Robinson presented papers at Miami University’s 38th Annual Mathematics Conference.

Boyadzhiev presented the paper, “The Riemann zeta function for undergraduates,” in which he described how he introduced the zeta function in his teaching last spring quarter.

Robinson presented the paper, “The Trials and Tribulations of a Statistics Professor’s Career Without Analysis,” in which he emphasizes the importance of analysis for statisticians.
