Freed Center to host ‘Be the Groove’
Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents “Be the Groove” and the ONU Dance Company on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 3, at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
“Be the Groove,” a Chicago-based rhythmic performance ensemble, combines rhythm, percussion and movement in a high-energy show that both entertains and engages its audience. “Be the Groove” was formed in 2006 by Artistic Director Stephanie Paul and former Executive Director Davora Sides and quickly fostered a reputation for thrilling audiences in the Chicago community.
The ensemble has entertained crowds in several Chicago locales, including Millennium Park’s Pritzker Pavilion, the Harris Theater, Ravinia, Old Town School of Folk Music, as well as festivals such as Dance Chicago, Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s Windy City Rhythms and the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival. They can be found at various local schools, dance studios and camps captivating audiences with interactive performances and educational workshops that bond percussion and dance.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $5 for ONU students. Community Workshop: Be the Groove to Host Community Dance Workshop

This talented dance company based out of Chicago will be coming to Ohio Northern to offer twenty lucky individuals between the ages of 13-18, a chance to experience the makings of a true hip-hop dancer.
