talbotONU Ranked No. 24 Nationwide by 'Washington Monthly'
Ohio Northern University has been ranked No. 24 in the nation by "Washington Monthly" in its 2010 baccalaureate college rankings. According to the magazine, "colleges and universities do as much to shape the future as any institutions you can think of. They conduct cutting-edge research that drives economic growth, provide upward mobility and mold the characters of tomorrow's leaders."

Ohio Supreme Court to hold Off-Site Court at Ohio Northern

The Supreme Court of Ohio will convene an official session at Ohio Northern University on Wednesday, Sept. 29. The visit is part of the court's semiannual Off-Site Court Program.
Chief Justice Eric Brown and Justices Paul E. Pfeifer, Evelyn Lundberg Stratton, Maureen O'Connor, Terrence O'Donnell, Judith Ann Lanzinger and Robert R. Cupp will hear oral arguments in several cases beginning at 9 a.m. on campus in Ada, Ohio.

College of Law Welcomes New Students
The Ohio Northern University Claude W. Pettit College of Law welcomes120 first-year students to its juris doctor program. Orientation for first-year students begins Thursday, Aug. 26.

At the annual support staff recognition dinner, held Aug. 19, three retirees were honored and employees received certificates of appreciation and gifts for years of service ranging from 5 to 35 years.

Opening Activities
New faculty orientation and opening activities begin Aug. 31. Opening session for the University community will be 9 a.m., Sept. 1 in the Freed Center.

Person Publishes Sixth Book
"The Deuteronomic History and the Book of Chronicles: Scribal Works in an Oral World," the sixth book by Dr. Raymond F. Person Jr., professor of religion and chair of the department of philosophy and religion, is now available.

Child Development Center Accepting Preschool Applicants
The Child Development Center at ONU is accepting students for its full and half-day preschool program. The program is open to both ONU and community families and provides positive social experiences for children that will enrich their physical, cognitive and emotion growth. The center’s hands-on approach invites and encourages children to choose their activities and become involved in a variety of materials appropriate for their age.

Sixteen Japanese students with the Sakae Institute of Study Abroad have completed their month-long summer program at Ohio Northern, practicing their skills in English and learning about American culture. Four will be full time students at Ohio Northern this fall.

Pharmacy Graduate Recognized for Communication Skills
Joanna F. Marino, Pharm.D ’10, from Hornell, N.Y., is a recipient of the 2010 Facts & Comparisons Award of Excellence in Clinical Communications sponsored by Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students.

Internship Opportunities Available
The Office of Career Services is partnering with The Right Thing, Inc., Findlay, Ohio, a recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) provide, to provide internship opportunities to ONU students. The Right Thing, Inc. will be attending Ohio Northern University's Fall Career Fair on Sept. 22.
