Move-in week schedule released
When the class of 2014 arrives this fall, they won’t waste any time finding their way around campus. Polar Expeditions, this year’s Bear Tracks 102 new student orientation program, begins on Saturday, Sept. 4, and features a week’s worth of events, activities and workshops designed to help freshmen feel at home.
Activities includes mandatory events for new students, such as the New Student Picnic, Greekapalooza, Welcome Fest and college-specific events, as well as a wide range of voluntary events.
The New Student Picnic hosted by the President and First Lady is the official welcome to ONU. At Welcome Fest, students learn how to get involved at ONU. Student leaders from Student Senate, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Student Planning Committee and many other campus groups and organizations will be on hand to make students aware of social and leadership opportunities. Greekapalooza on Sunday, Sept. 5 brings fun and live music to the Tundra.
Voluntary events range from worship services, financial aid seminar, a comedy show and the annual SPC Great College Drive-In Movie. ONU athletics will also be well represented during the week with volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer games.
Polar Expeditions, however, isn’t all fun and games. It is also the perfect opportunity for placement testing for foreign language and mathematics, as well as course registration for students who have not yet done so. The ONU bookstore will be open for students to purchase books and supplies, and students can pick up parking permits and ID cards in the McIntosh Center conference Room on Sept. 4 and 5.
Polar Expeditions runs from Saturday, Sept. 4, to Friday, Sept. 10. View the full schedule.
