ONU Part of Federal Grant
Ohio Northern University is part of a nationwide consortium of 65 universities working together as part of a $2.5 million U.S. Department of Energy grant awarded to the University of Minnesota to revitalize electrical power engineering education.
Dr. Khalid Al-Olimat, associate professor of electrical & computer engineering, is leading ONU’s participation in the project. The University will receive a total of $25,000 over a three-year period that will be used for faculty summer salary and faculty travel to three workshops.
The funding is part of a nationwide $100 million effort for 54 smart grid workforce training programs that will help prepare the next generation of workers in the utility and electrical manufacturing industries.
