Law graduates tops in passage of state bar exam
One hundred percent of Ohio Northern University’s December law graduates passed Ohio’s February 2010 bar examination on their first attempt, and 86 percent of all ONU law graduates passed. ONU’s Pettit College of Law ranks above all other Ohio law schools in both overall passage rate and the passage rate of first-time takers.
This continues the trend of outstanding bar exam performance by Ohio Northern law graduates. In 2009, 100 percent of ONU Law’s recent graduating class passed Ohio’s February bar examination. In 2008, 100 percent of first-time applicants passed the Ohio bar exam in February, followed by 93.3 percent of May graduates on the July exam. In 2007, graduates of the college recorded the highest percentage of first-time applicants passing the July 2007 bar, with 95 percent of first-time takers passing the exam.
ONU’s December law graduates have a 100 percent bar passage rate in Illinois, Nebraska, New York and Pennsylvania for first-time takers of the February 2010 exam.
David C. Crago, dean and professor of law at Ohio Northern, celebrated the continued success of recent graduates of the college on the bar examination. “This accomplishment reflects the hard work of the entire college and, most of all, the efforts of these students,” he said.
For the most recent administration of the Ohio bar exam, in February 2010, out of 413 applicants, 271 (65.6 percent) passed. Of the 238 first-time applicants, 79 percent received passing scores.
The new attorneys will be sworn in during a special public session of the Supreme Court on Monday, May 10, 2010, at the Ohio Theatre in Columbus.
