ONU Recognized Among Ohio’s Best
Ohio Northern University’s small class sizes, 12:1 student to teacher ratio and “strong blend of liberal arts and professional programs” has landed it on About.com’s list of the top ten colleges and universities in Ohio.

Wilson Selected for Gilder Lehrman History Scholars Program
The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History in New York City has selected Carol M. Wilson, a junior double major in history and professional writing from Royal Oak, Mich., as one of 10 Gilder Lehrman History Scholars for 2010.

Unite For Awareness Week
Unite for Awareness Week, April 26-30, is a week-long student initiative to educate the ONU community about forms of prejudice and discrimination.

42nd Street42nd Street'
“42nd Street” is one of the largest and most elaborate musicals ever performed at the Freed Center. Performances are April 28 to May 1 at 8 p.m. with a matinee performance on May 2 at 2 p.m. See video.

One Fine Arts Weekend
Join the ONU community for a weekend of fine art activities, April 30-May 1. Register with the Office of Alumni Relations.


Spring Band Festival
The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents Spring Band Festival XXXV. The wind orchestra will perform on Friday, May 7, at 8 p.m., and the symphonic and honors bands will perform Sunday, May 9, at 4 p.m.

2010 Summer Camps
Ohio Northern University will host a number of academic and athletic summer camps that will bring to campus thousands of middle and high school students from across the region. Students will find a variety of opportunities to combine new discoveries with plenty of fun.

Jeff Allison Allison Receives Pharmacy Award for Community Volunteerism
Jeffery C. Allison, R.Ph., Pharm.D., BCPS, professor of pharmacy practice, is the 2010 recipient of the Pfizer Bowl of Hygeia Award for his active work in the community, presented by the Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA).

Earthquake Engineering
Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mohti, assistant professor of civil engineering, has received a National Science Foundation grant to attend the U.S. and Canadian Conference on Earthquake Engineering.

Estell Presents at Symposium
Dr. John K. Estell, professor of computer science and computer engineering and chair of the ECCS department, was an invited presenter at the 2010 ABET Symposium held April 15-17 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Building Broadcasters
Richard and Becky Gainey recently did volunteer work with the Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity while attending the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) annual convention

Akdemir Publishes Article
Dr. Deniz Akdemir, visiting professor of mathematics and statistics, is coauthor of an article, “A Matrix Variate Skew Distribution.”

Lewis Honored
Mike Lewis, associate professor of law, has been honored with an award from the Central Ohio Public Relations Society of America.

Students to Discuss Study Abroad
Five history, politics and justice majors will discuss their experiences studying abroad at a 7 p.m. presentation on Wednesday, May 5, in the James F. Dicke forum as part of the Phi Beta Delta International Forum.

Students Present Original Research
Five ONU students presented original research at the Undergraduate Honor Conference held April 17 and 18 in conjunction with the Central States Communication Association in Cincinnati.

Relay For Life
For the sixth year on the Ohio Northern University campus, walkers will go around the clock to benefit the battle against cancer during the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

ONU Alumni Receive Top Awards at Ohio Pharmacists Conference
Ohio Northern University alumni received six of the seven awards presented at the 132nd Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) annual meeting and conference in Columbus, Ohio from April 9-11. ONU students also competed in both the OTC Challenge and the Student Olympics at the OPA conference.
