Polaris Brass performs during One Fine Art Weekend

Taking part in the 2010 One Fine Art Weekend, the Polaris Brass quintet will present its "Collage of Light Classics for the Stage" on Sunday, May 1 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Snyder Recital Hall.

The performance will feature a variety of pieces from the stage, opening with Von Suppe's famous "Light Cavalry Overture." Other selections include Berstein's "West Side Story" arranged by Broadway trombonist Jack Gale for the famous Empire Brass Quintet. The show will also feature a suite from Bizet's beloved opera, "Carmen". The program will close with ONU Assistant Professor of Music Dr. David Kosmyna's arrangement of the old jazz standard "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone" from the songbooks of Ella Fitzgerald, Harry Connick Jr., Billie Holiday, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong.

The Polaris Brass program promises to be a treat for audiences of all ages during this weekend celebration of the arts.
