Engineering Students Receive Asphalt Scholarships
Six civil engineering students, all juniors in the Prof. Mohammad Khasawneh’s Transportation II class, have been named recipients of Hot Mix Asphalt Scholarships. Prof. Khasawneh is an assistant professor of Civil Engineering in the Smull College of Engineering at Ohio Northern University.
They are Ryan P. Athy from Shelby, Ohio, Korey C. Sarven from Lima, Ohio, Shane R. Huntley from Sandusky, Ohio, Drew D. Richards from New Washington, Ohio, Jonathan J. Mihoci from Jefferson, Ohio, and Luke R. Miller from Indiana, Pa.
Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO) and its member companies, working through the Ohio Asphalt Scholarship Fund, sponsor a series of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) scholarships at nine universities in Ohio, which offer courses in asphalt pavement technology.
The competitive scholarships are awarded based on past academic performance and future potential, leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, level of career and educational aspirations in the transportation industry, goals and special personal or family circumstances.
