Pakistan Topic for Lecture
“What is Pakistan? Pakistan Today” is the topic for the Phi Delta International Forum set for 7 p.m., March 25 in the Dicke Forum.
Guest speaker is Dr. Munir Ahmad of the Dosti Welfare Organization.
Modern Pakistan was founded because Hindus and the Muslims could not live in harmony in a single country. Dr. Munir Ahmad will discuss the schism and other highlights of Pakistan's colorful history.
Ahmad currently oversees the Reynolds Clinic in Toledo that serves Medicare, Medicaid and private-pay patients. Born to a poor family in Peshawar, Pakistan, Ahmd’s mother pushed him pursue his education. After graduating from medical school, he came to the United States in 1971, where he completed his residency. He then started helping other young people from his home country obtain educational opportunities through sponsorship of scholarships and awards. In 1994, he founded the Dosti Welfare Organization, to start and oversee schools in the rural areas of Pakistan. In 2003, he opened a U.S. office.
