Responding to the Haitian Earthquake
Members of the ONU family have been quick to respond to the devastation of the recent earthquake in Haiti through a number of charitable organizations. The University is encouraging students, faculty and staff to offer support through organizations already engaged in work on the island nation.

ONU Receives KEEN Most Improved Award
ONU received the 2009 Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network (KEEN) Most Improved Institution Award at the KEEN conference held in Orlando, Fla.

Scholarship Recognition Day
Presidential Scholarship Recognition Day attracted more than 300 students and their families to ONU.


Speaker on International Law and Ethics
Ohio Northern University’s Phi Beta Delta honorary society for international scholars presents a lecture by Fran Quigley in the McIntosh Ballroom on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m.

GIS and Health Issues
Geographers Andrew Curtis and Jacqueline W. Mills will speak on the use of GIS in addressing health-related issues such as health vulnerability, disaster evacuation, disaster recovery, urban health analysis and personal confidentiality in the media at time, Jan. 28 in the McIntosh Ballroom.

Grant Received
Dr. Jake Zimmerman, assistant professor of chemistry, and Dr. Chris Bowers, associate professor of chemistry, are the recipients of a $10,000 equipment grant from the Pittsburgh Conference Memorial National College Grant

ONU Represented on OCALI Advisory Board
Two ONU faculty members and an ONU graduate are serving as advisory board members for the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence-disabilities (OCALI).
 

SMArts Coming to Campus
SMArts, the Saturday morning arts enrichment program offered by ONU’s Center for Teacher Education, will be held Jan. 23, 30 and Feb. 6.

Heterick Memorial Library will celebrate National Take Back Your Time Week with a Food for Fines campaign to support the Ada Food Pantry.

Spotlight: Students

Students Urged to Vaccinate
As part of National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW), the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), working with its local, state, and federal partners, is encouraging those who have not received their H1N1 vaccination to do so, especially college age students.

ONU-Hanyang University Fellowship Competition
Two information sessions will be held about the ONU-Hanyang University Fellowship Competition. Two students from each ONU college will be selected from among interested students to receive a fellowship to study in Korea at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea, this summer.
 

Pharmacy Students Answer Drug Questions
The Student Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (SSHP) will hold a free medication review at the ReStore in Ada Saturday, Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
