Grants Received

The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation has awarded an $18,570 grant to Ohio Northern University thanks to the efforts of Dr. Dennis De Luca, associate professor of biological sciences.

The grant will support the Summer Honors Institute (SHI) for gifted and talented students at ONU. This marks the fifth year for the SHI which will feature 13 one-week courses to be held June 13 - 18, June 27 - July 2 and July 25 - 30.

The camp, directed by Dr. De Luca,is expected to attract 150 students. The following courses will be offered during the 2010 SHI: Engineering, Design/Arts, Pharmacy, Philosophy, Physics, Chemistry, Mock Trial, Forensics I and II, Robotics, Ohio Natural History. New courses this year are Herbal Medicine and Young Women’s Leadership Experience.

 

Honda of America Manufacturing has awarded Ohio Northern University a $5,000 grant to support the 2010 U.S. - Japan Camp thanks to the efforts of Dr. Rob Alexander.

This is the third year for the two-week summer camp that brings American high school students to campus for cultural and language courses and experiences. The camp participants have the opportunity to interact with Japanese students who are part of the Sakae Institute for Study Abroad that is held at the same time on campus.
