ONU Symphony Presents Symphonic Soundscapes
The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the ONU Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday, Mar. 17. at 8 p.m. There will be a pre-show discussion at 7:15 p.m. This concert was originally scheduled for Feb. 6.
The 70-member orchestra, which includes 40 string musicians, will encore a performance of last year’s commissioned work, “Silent Snow” by Joseph Curiale. ONU student concerto competition winner Joshua Purk, a senior music performance and composition major from Springfield, Ohio, will perform the “Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra” by Brazilian composer Ney Rosauro.
Additionally, the symphony will play selections from Bizet’s “Carmen Suites,” Brahm’s “Hungarian Dance No. 5” and Wagner’s “Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.” Tickets are on sale now: $15 for general admission, $12 for seniors and non-ONU students, $9 for children, and $5 for ONU students.
