Northwest Ohio International Affairs Consortium

ONU faculty and students from the Department of History, Political Science and Justice will take part in the second annual conference of the Northwest Ohio International Affairs Consortium March 19 and 20 at Tiffin University.

Members of the ONU delegation are professors Russ Crawford, Michael Loughlin, Kofi Nsia-Pepra and David R. Smith, as well as students Alexandra Habbouche, a senior in political science from Oregon, Ohio, and Ben Smith, a junior in sports management from Ada, Ohio.

Loughlin will present a paper titled “Is the United States Addicted to War? “ in a session dealing with the growing military dominance in American foreign policy.  In another session dealing with American national security concerns in regional contexts, Nsia-Pepra will deliver a paper on “American National Security Policies and Interests in Africa.” David R. Smith will present a paper on “The Changing Face of Iran: Problems and Dilemmas for American National Security Interests.”

Ben Smith will present a paper on the topic of “America’s Relations with Cuba and U.S. National Security.” Crawford will participate in a faculty roundtable and Habbouche will comment on various student and faculty papers. Other students and faculty are encouraged and invited to attend with this delegation.

The keynote speaker will be American foreign policy expert Steven W. Hook of Kent State University.

The NOIAC was founded two years ago and includes ONU, Tiffin University, Bluffton University, The University of Findlay, Heidelberg University and Defiance College.
