Pettit College of Law Receives PLUS Grant

The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law has received the DiscoverLaw.org Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) program grant from the Law School Admissions Council.

ONU, one of three law schools nationwide to receive the grant, was selected based on the strength of its program combined with the law school’s commitment, geographic location and target population.

“This grant from LSAC provides ONU Law a wonderful opportunity to expose college students from around the country to the benefits of a legal education,” said David C. Crago, dean of the College of Law.

Schools selected for PLUS grants are eligible to receive up to $100,000 per year for a maximum of three years. The PLUS program will begin at ONU Law in June 2010.

DiscoverLaw.org PLUS Programs are targeted to, but not restricted to, college students from racial and ethnic minority groups underrepresented in the legal profession.

The programs are designed for students in the first two years of college, and preference will be given to students who have registered for DiscoverLaw.org

The four-week programs provide an intense focus on the skills required to succeed in law school, the law school admission process and legal career opportunities. Interested students should contact the ONU Office of Law Admissions at lawadmissions@onu.edu or 877-452-9668 for application information, including deadlines and selection criteria.
