College of Business Administration Named as One of the Top 111

Mar 5, 2010

Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration was named one of the top 111 undergraduate business programs in the U.S. by Bloomberg BusinessWeek in its fifth annual rankings of undergraduate business programs.

Ohio Northern, which had not been previously ranked, came in at No. 72 overall. ONU earned high marks in the nine categories used for the rankings, including an A+ in the “Teaching Quality Grade” category and a B in the “Facilities and Services Grade” category.

Dr. James W. Fenton Jr., dean of the College of Business Administration, said, “This rating is a reflection of the high quality of work and effort done by our students, faculty and staff. It also reflects the support that we have received from the ONU administration and our dedicated alumni network, particularly those who have employed our interns and graduates. Truly, for the college to receive such a rating is an achievement based on a total team effort.”

Bloomberg BusinessWeek uses nine measures to rank these programs, including surveys of senior business majors and corporate recruiters, median starting salaries for graduates, and the number of alumni each program sends to top masters of business programs. An academic quality rating for each program, generated by combining average SAT scores, student-faculty ratios, class size, the percentage of students with internships, and the number of hours students devote to class work, was also calculated into the rankings.

Dr. Kendall L. Baker, Ohio Northern University president, said, “This special achievement by the College of Business Administration demonstrates the outstanding programming, teaching and networking that goes on at Ohio Northern. The business college ranking solidifies our belief that our faculty and facilities compete with the best universities in the U.S.”

The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration creates tomorrow’s entrepreneurial, ethical and engaged leaders and offers programs accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). ONU offers majors in accounting, finance, international business and economics, management, marketing, and pharmaceutical business. Distinctive programs, global experience, experiential learning and successful outcomes are hallmarks of the college. In addition, U.S. News & World Report ranks Ohio Northern No. 2 among more than 300 Midwest baccalaureate colleges in “America’s Best Colleges 2010.”
