Reid to Speak at IEEE-USA Annual Meeting

Ken Reid, director of freshman engineering and associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been invited to speak at the IEEE-USA annual meeting, March 4-7 in Nashville, Tenn.

The theme of the annual meeting is “The Gathering Storm: Are You Engineering the Solutions?” with sessions addressing social, economic and political issues surrounding STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education in grades K-12.

The title refers to a report from the National Academy of Engineering entitled “Rising Above the Gathering Storm” which details recommendations from the National Academies for American prosperity, including incorporating engineering into K-12 curricula.

Dr. Reid will be part of a roundtable discussion on K-12 outreach programs, discussing how IEEE members can make a difference in their local K-12 school districts.
