Students Urged to Vaccinate

As part of National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW), the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), working with its local, state and federal partners, is encouraging those who have not received their H1N1 vaccination to do so, especially college-age students.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the highest number of confirmed cases of H1N1 flu has been among young adults between the ages of 19 and 24. Since the spread of H1N1 flu is likely to continue over the next few months it is very important that young adults get vaccinated for H1N1 flu.

While influenza is unpredictable, it is possible that there could be a third wave of H1N1 flu. The disease will be less likely to spread in the coming months if more people are vaccinated.

For more information on the H1N1 flu or to find a clinic, visit or call the ODH H1N1 information line at 1-866-800-1404. The information line is open between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
