‘The Adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon’

Jan 4, 2010

Children's SeriesOhio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents “The Adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon” on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale Monday, Jan. 4.

“Harold and the Purple Crayon,” which follows the zany adventures of an inventive young boy, is the first of seven picture books by Crockett Johnson. Resourceful and brave, Harold creates the world he wants to explore using nothing more than a big purple crayon and his sky’s-the-limit imagination.

Enchantment Theatre Company’s production will take you on a wild ride as Harold jets to Mars (shooting stars and spaceships), joins a circus (he walks a tightrope), and meets a king in an enchanted garden (of course, there’s a dragon).

ImageThe “Harold” books have captivated families for more than 50 years, celebrating the imagination of children and the way they see the world. Using life-size puppets, masks, magic and music, Enchantment’s production will delight and amaze audiences of all ages, especially anyone whose heart is young and adventurous.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for children. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone orders are accepted with American Express, MasterCard, VISA or Discover by calling 419-772-1900.
