Freed Center Receives Grant from NEA
The Freed Center for the Performing Arts has received a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts – Challenge America program.
The grant is one of 150 approved for 2010. Only five were for programs in Ohio.
The funds will support the performances of “Journey of Hope,” a concert program by the African Children’s Choir, scheduled for April 7.
The event will include a schools’ performance at 10 a.m., musical workshops for voice and African drumming, and a pre-performance prior to the 8 p.m. public concert.
The Challenge America: Reaching Every Community grants, funded by Congress, are designed for small and mid-sized organizations to fund projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations.
