Freed Center Presents ‘Runt of the Litter’

Runt of the LitterThe Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents "Runt of the Litter" in the Biggs Theatre on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.

An off-Broadway hit written and performed by Bo Eason and directed by Larry Moss, "Runt of the Litter" examines a father's expectations, a son's dream and a brother's rivalry.

The playEason looks at what happens to two brothers in a family of overachievers. When the parents assure their oldest son that he is destined for football stardom, while telling the youngest that he is too small to compete, a line in the family sand is drawn that colors the rest of their lives.

"Runt of the Litter" is a semiautobiographical account of Eason's life and career as a defensive back for the NFL's Houston Oilers in the 1980s. The play debuted in New York in 2002, and Eason has subsequently performed it at theatres around the country. "Runt of the Litter" is currently running off Broadway at 37 Arts Theatre.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $10 for seniors and non-ONU students, and $5 for children.
