ONU Addresses Domestic Violence with ‘You the Man’
Both performances are free and open to the public.
The production's primary goal is to spread awareness so that the community will take an active role in stopping domestic violence.
"You the Man," debuted in 2002 and features a single actor portraying six different men, each with some sort of relationship with an abused woman. All types of relationships are dissected to make possible open discussions about the included issues.
Following the 30-minute, one-act performance, a five-member panel comprised of area counselors and relationship experts will discuss issues related to the production. Members of the panel are Mike Schafer, Ph.D., LICDC, director of ONU's counseling center; Rebecca Diller, M.S.E., LPCC, assistant director of counseling at ONU; Phyllis Neff, victim advocate, Crime Victim Services in Lima; Laurel Neufeld Weaver, M.S.W., LISW, visiting assistant professor of social work at Bluffton University; and a member of the ONU security team.
