Pettit College of Law Presents ‘Ethics, Professionalism and Substance Abuse’ Symposium

Ohio Northern University's Pettit College of Law and the Phi Alpha Delta Willis Chapter presents an "Ethics, Professionalism and Substance Abuse" symposium in the Moot Court Room at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9.

At 1:10 p.m., Michael D. Schafer will speak on "Trends and Best Practices in Substance Abuse Treatment." Schafer is a clinical psychologist and licensed independent chemical dependency counselor in the state of Ohio. He works as the director of counseling at Ohio Northern.

Victor L. Streib will discuss "Professionalism: Doing Good While Doing Well" at 1:45 p.m. Streib is a professor of law and former law dean at Ohio Northern who has taught criminal law and ethics to more than 5,000 students at 10 institutions since 1971.

At 3 p.m., Edward W. Erfurt III, an attorney in Columbus and a 1977 graduate of ONU's Pettit College of Law, will deliver a "2009 Ethics Case Law Update."

The registration deadline for the event is Friday, Oct. 2. The registration fee is $65 for the public, $50 for ONU College of Law alumni and $40 for Lehr Society Law alumni. To register, call the College of Law dean's office at 419-772-2318, fax registration to 419-772-2318 or e-mail CLE@onu.edu
