Citing Electronic Sources

Since formats for citing electronic resources vary, students should always consult their professors as to the appropriate citation method for a particular class or assignment.

One commonly used style manual, The Bedford Handbook (Hacker), contains useful information in the section "Researched Writing - Documentation Styles."

  • The current printed version is on reserve at the Heterick Circulation Desk.
  • The book also has its own web site

Several organizations have their own formats for citing electronic resources. An excellent link to them is Online Citation Styles.

Columbia Guide to Online Style also provides useful information.
