Dr. Jake Zimmerman in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Awarded $50,000 Grant from PRF
Dr. Jake Zimmerman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Ohio Northern University has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the American Chemical Society’s Petroleum Research Fund (https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/funding-and-awards/grants/prf.html) through the Undergraduate New Investigator Program, which seeks to (1) support fundamental research in the petroleum and energy fields, and (2) develop the next generation of engineers and scientists through support of advanced scientific education. The program is intended to initiate the research program of new scientists and engineers who are faculty members at undergraduate research institutions and to provide financial incentives for students at those institutions to become involved in real-world research activities leading to employment or continued study in graduate school. This grant will support Dr. Zimmerman’s laboratory research program (mainly providing summer research stipends) over the next two years–the funds will be released to him in September 2009. Thus, he and his research students will continue to vigorously pursue novel, groundbreaking research on Stereoselective Tin-Free Radical Reactions.
