Ohio Northern University will celebrate its 2007 College of Law commencement ceremony at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 13, in the ONU Sports Center. Approximately 103 students are slated to graduate. President Kendall Baker will preside.

In addition to the juris doctor degrees, ONU will also be conferring LL.M. degrees to 11 lawyers from transitional and emerging democracies that have completed a yearlong course of intensive study in the Democratic Governance and Rule of Law program.

The Sports Center is scheduled to open for the commencement exercises at 12:30 p.m. A musical prelude will begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by the procession of faculty and juris doctorate candidates.

Elected in 2006, he manages all banking functions for the state of Ohio and an investment portfolio averaging $11 billion. Cordray has served as Franklin County Treasurer, as a state representative and as Ohio's first state solicitor. An attorney by profession, he argued six cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and taught for 15 years at Ohio State's law school.

The Honorable Judge Thomas F. Bryant will be awarded an honorary degree from Ohio Northern University. Bryant, who earned his law degree from ONU in 1966, served for 18 years on the Ohio Third District Court of Appeals from 1988 to 2006.

Deanna R. Cook of Alger, Ohio, who ranks academically at the top of the graduating class, will deliver the student address, and Dean David C. Crago, will give remarks.

Graduating student Gregory P. Jones of Columbia, South Carolina, will give the invocation and classmate Kristen A. Vogtsberger of San Antonio, Texas, will give the benediction. Featured vocalists will be graduating law student Donald N. Hannah of Alexandria, Indiana, and Givi Kutidze, an LL.M student from Tbilisi, Georgia.

Dean David C. Crago, assisted by members of the tenured law faculty, will place the academic hood upon each candidate, followed by President Kendall Baker's presentation of the diplomas.

A reception for graduates and families will take place in the College of Law immediately following the ceremony.
