College of Business Administration named for James F. Dicke

The Ohio Northern University College of Business Administration became the newly named, James F. Dicke College of Business Administration on April 2.

The naming of the college is in honor of James F. Dicke Sr. and is in recognition of his past and continuing support of the College of Business Administration and Ohio Northern.

“Ohio Northern has a long and warm relationship with Mr. Dicke and the entire Dicke family,” said ONU President Dr. Kendall L. Baker. “It is our honor to recognize the outstanding leadership and continuing support of Mr. Dicke in this manner.”

Accredited in 2003 by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration prepares students to become successful business and community leaders in a changing world. The integration of theory and practice and ongoing mentoring opportunities are hallmarks of this outstanding academic program at a university that is ranked among the top five comprehensive universities in the Midwest.

James F. Dicke Hall, which houses the new college, is 35,000 square feet of state-of-the-art classrooms and conference rooms. The “Atrium” features a 160-foot long, two-story lobby and a real-time stock ticker. The building also includes a 133-seat “Forum” to accommodate formal meetings and events with the latest in communications technology.

“Speaking for the students, faculty and staff of the new James F. Dicke College of Business Administration, we could not be happier that our College is being named for James F. Dicke,” said Dean James W. Fenton Jr.,  “In addition to being a successful entrepreneur and businessman, he has all of the attributes you desire when a person’s name is added to that of your institution, including a tremendous reputation in the region, the state and the nation.  He is known for being an ethical, responsible, caring and giving person.  We are extremely proud to have the name, James F. Dicke precede the words College of Business Administration at our institution.

The Dicke family owns Crown Equipment Corporation of New Bremen, Ohio, which operates manufacturing plants and dealerships in the United States, Europe and Asia and has grown into one of the largest manufacturers of lift trucks in the world.
