The 1991 addition of the Fieldhouse gives ONU one of the finest athletic facilities in all of Division III.
Boasting three cross courts for basketball/indoor tennis/volleyball, two weight rooms, a fitness laboratory, practice areas for softball and baseball, and a six-lane, 200-meter indoor running track, the fieldhouse lends versatility to the Sports Center. Permanent seating is available for 500 spectators.
The 6,500-square foot facility nearly doubled the size of the existing complex, making it possible for as many as 10 different varsity sports to practice simultaneously.
In addition to athletic teams, the Fieldhouse is open to the university and pass-holders.
Not only is it a premier athletic facility, the Fieldhouse is used for a variety of other university functions. It is designed to accommodate the teaching and learning programs of the department of human performance and sport sciences, along with special events such as concerts, scholarship banquets, and commencement exercises.
Curved windows provide beautiful views of the campus interior—the perfect setting for a game of one-on-one, an evening jog, or a rousing indoor track meet.
In 2007 the Fieldhouse held the OAC championships, and will host the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in 2008.
