Robertson, 4x100 provisionally qualify to Nationals at Oliver Nikoloff Invitational

CINCINNATI - Senior Ryan Robertson and the men's 4x100-meter relay turned in national-qualifying performances on Saturday to lead the Ohio Northern men's track & field team at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational at Gettler Stadium.
The ONU men placed seventh out of 18 teams with 36 points, while Cincinnati won the team title with 203 points.
Robertson provisionally-qualified to nationals in the long jump with a distance of 22-11.75 to place third.
Robertson also teamed with junior Justin Linzy and freshmen Ryan Flemming and Julian Horn to finish third in the 4x100 with a time of 41.89 that provisionally qualifies the relay for nationals.
Robertson and Linzy placed 7-8 in the 100-meter dash. Robertson finished in 10.98, while Linzy ran a career-best time of 11.03.
In addition, Robertson was ninth in the 200-meter dash in 22.28.
Freshman Jake Fox nearly qualified to nationals in the 110-meter hurdles and the long jump.
Fox won the 110-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 15.04. His time was less than .10 away from the provisional national mark (14.95).
In the long jump, Fox was fifth with a leap of 22-08, just two inches away from the provisional mark.
Also placing for the men was junior Eric Thatcher. Thatcher finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:57.78.
Ohio Northern returns to action next Saturday at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware.
