Performing Arts Director Receives Grants

Jun 20, 2008
Catriona Macphie-Hynds, the managing director and development officer for Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts, has been awarded two grants.

The Ohio Awards Council awarded the Freed Center an $11,994 sustainability grant for the 2008-09 year. The grant will be used to provide high-quality, challenging and entertaining arts experiences to ONU students and area residents.

The Arts Midwest awarded $2,600 to support the children's performance of "The Magic Tree House - The Musical" in October 2008. Arts Midwest is a non-profit regional arts organization that serves audiences, arts organizations and artists throughout the Midwest. The organization has supported Freed Center productions in the past.

"We are thrilled to have received grants from both Arts Midwest and the Ohio Arts Council," Macphie-Hynds said. "This support enables us to continue programming events of the very highest possible quality for our community. In order to sustain the overall cultural vitality of our community, support through funding and patronage is crucial."
