World music duo Alex DePue and Miguel de Hoyos to perform at Ohio Northern University
The Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents world music duo Alex DePue and Miguel de Hoyos on Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
This musical act combines the musical abilities of Alex DePue and Miguel De Hoyos. Individually and as a duo, DePue and de Hoyos bring a mixture of original and well-known acoustic, rock and Latin songs.
Performing as DePue De Hoyos, the duo’s unique international sound has resulted in the release of “Underground Whispers” in 2008 and “Twisted Strings” in 2009.
DePue is a published composer and arranger of music. He began taking classical violin lessons at age 5 and has won multiple competitions and awards in various musical instruments, including violin and fiddle. He also has appeared as a guest soloist with orchestras and at festivals worldwide. DePue is trained in the viola, mandolin, guitar, double bass, percussion and piano and is said to be able to produce any style of music.
De Hoyos is a professional acoustic guitarist and vocalist who has developed his own neo-classical style, playing everything from the Beatles to the classics.
Tickets are $20 for general admission.
