Wind Orchestra to perform ‘European Gems’

ImageOhio Northern University’s Wind Orchestra will perform “European Gems for the Wind Band” in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m.
 
The performance will feature music composed by European composers such as Anton Bruckner, G.F. Handel, Felix Mendelssohn, and Gustav Mahler. Summer Aebker, ONU lecturer in music, will perform the Mahler songs, and Thomas Hunt, professor of music, will conduct the orchestra.
 
The concert will open with Eric Knechtges’ “Vision Fanfare,” composed for the inauguration of ONU President Dan DiBiasio, and will conclude with a performance of Johan De Meij's “Symphony No. 1” and “The Lord of the Rings.”
 
Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and non-ONU students, and $9 for children. Tickets are on sale now.
