University Singers announce 2010 fall tour

Ohio Northern University’s University Singers will kick off its annual fall tour at the Zion Lutheran Church in Lima, Ohio, on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 10:45 a.m. The tour will conclude with a home concert at Ohio Northern’s Presser Hall on Sunday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m.
This 48-voice choir is lead by Dennis L. Kratzer, director of choral activities and professor of music at ONU. The fall tour will feature faculty accompanist Mary Jane Eichelberger on both organ and piano.
The 2010 fall tour will include church and high school concerts in Bluffton, Lima, and Ada, Ohio, and Naperville and Wilmette, Ill. The selections will include Leonard Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms” sung in Hebrew with organ, harp and percussion, several a cappella selections, and others with flute and harp.
Guest artists on the tour will be harpist Christine Thomas, an ONU alumna from Cincinnati, Ohio, percussionist A. Lewis Jones, a freshman music education major from Lima, Ohio, and flautist Sarah Voll, a senior music education major from Ada, Ohio.
Assistant accompanists will be Adam Fahncke, a senior management major from Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Tony Wan, freshman music performance major from Cincinnati, Ohio. The associate conductor for the tour is Timothy Smith, a senior music education major from Westerville, Ohio, and the assistant conductor is Eric Smith, a senior music performance major from Toledo, Ohio.
