Students to Compete in CEO Elevator Pitch Contest

Oct 13, 2008
Fifteen Ohio Northern University students are scheduled to compete in the CEO Elevator Pitch Competition at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, in room 230 of The Dicke College of Business Administration.

The contest, sponsored by the Kern Family Foundation, requires students to present a 90-second "elevator pitch" that identifies a customer's problem or need and offers a solution. Contestants will be judged on how well he or she articulates the problem; how unique and viable the solution is; how effectively and passionately the contestant presents the problem and solution; and how skillfully the presentation is made.

Students will present new business ideas that range from "Rustic Blades," a wood-craft business designed to serve the re-enactment market, to "Small College Supplement Services," a kiosk- and web-based business serving student athletes in college locations where nutritional supplements are not readily available.

The winner will be entered in the national CEO Elevator Pitch Competition to be held Nov. 6-8 at the CEO National Conference in Chicago, Ill. Cash prizes will be presented to the top five contestants.
