Baja SAE team finishes first at 2012 Winter Baja

Ohio Northern University’s Baja Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) team finished first overall at the 2012 Winter Baja competition Feb. 18, 2012, in Lake Linden, Mich.

Hosted by Michigan Technological University, the 2012 Winter Baja featured 48 cars from schools such as Virginia Tech, the Univiversity of Michigan, and South Dakota School of Mines. Although a relative lack of snow made track obstacles smaller this year, race organizers compensated by incorporating a half-acre skating rink into the course, where chains or studded tires are not allowed.

Tuition covers only 65 percent of ONU’s operating costs for the year. The University relies on donations from alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and supporters of Ohio Northern to cover the rest. Tuition Freedom Day was created to educate students about the generosity of donors.
