Ohio Northern University’s Mu Delta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi was recognized as a Superior Chapter for the 2011-12 academic year. In recognition of this achievement, the chapter received a check for $275 sponsored by the KPMG Foundation.

Allison McCarthy, a senior in chemistry from New Washington, Ohio, will be taking part in the 245th ACS (American Chemical Society) National Meeting in New Orleans, La., April 7-11. Her poster presentation, “Hetero Diels-Alder reactions of 3-formylchromones” will be part of the Division of Organic Chemistry session “New Reactions and Methodology, Heterocycles and Aromatics,” held the evening of April 10.
McCarthy also received a travel award from the Division of Organic Chemistry to attend the national meeting.

Ohio Northern University’s chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) has scheduled a number of events as part of the Medication Adherence Challenge, a national effort to raise public awareness of the importance of taking medications as prescribed.

Ohio Northern University defenseman Matt Fleming, a senior international business and economics major from Liberty Township, Ohio, has been named the recipient of the Elite 89 award for the 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship. The award was presented at the NCAA Finals in San Antonio in November.
The Elite 89 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s championships.

Thomas Steinberger, a junior from Waynesfield, Ohio, advised by Dr. Mohammad Zaki, was recognized twice in ‘The College Mathematics Journal’, November 2012
issue, for the correct solutions he submitted to problems 961 and 965. Steinberger is a mathematics major and a member of the ONU-SOLVE Problem Group.

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy student chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) was honored with a trio of chapter awards at the 114th annual NCPA Convention and Trade Exposition in San Diego in October. Two ONU pharmacy scholarship recipients also were recognized at the event.
