Recent ONU graduates earn Dankook Awards
Ohio Northern University presented Dankook Awards to graduating students Rebecca Lifer, a biological sciences major from Shelby, Ohio, and Zachary Woods, a pharmacy major from North Canton, Ohio, during the recent commencement ceremony on campus.
The award recognizes two students with outstanding records in academics, student leadership, co-curricular activities and service. Presented since 1974, the Dankook Award is an annual reciprocal award exchanged between Dankook University in South Korea and Ohio Northern University.
Lifer, who graduated from Shelby Senior High School, was a DeBow Freed Leadership Award winner during her college career. She also was a member of Mortar Board scholastic honorary, the Arts & Sciences Advisory Board, Newman Club, and several Greek organizations.
Woods, who graduated from Hoover High School, was involved in the Academy of Managed Care pharmacy organization, American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and the American Institute of Graphic Arts. He also was a member of the Good News Bears, who assist new students during orientation sessions.
Both individuals are taking steps in their career endeavors. Lifer will attend the Ohio State University College of Optometry, and Woods will be a HealthWise resident at Ohio Northern.
