ONU to Welcome Speaker, Celebrate MLK Legacy

Ohio Northern University welcomes speaker Dr. Carolyn Medine on Friday, Jan. 11 at 5 p.m. in the English Chapel. Medine's presentation will commemorate the 40th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech at Ohio Northern.

Medine will present "Diaspora and Dissemination: The Movement of Dr. Martin Luther King's Dream." She will share her insights regarding Dr. King's vision for a global community and our responsibilities therein.

Medine is an associate professor in the department of religion and in the Institute for African American Studies at the University of Georgia. Medine's recent work includes articles on Pinkie Gordon Lane's poetry and Albert Murray's autobiography "South to a Very Old Place." She is president of the American Academy of Religion section of the Southeastern Commission for the Study of Religion, and she has served as co-chair for the Arts, Literature and Religion Section of the American Academy of Religion.
