ONU Presents Thought-provoking Drama

Dec 18, 2008
The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents "A.H. (before he changed our history)," a one-man play that explores the life of Adolf Hitler. The performance will take place Saturday, Jan. 15, at 8 p.m. in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre, with a pre-show discussion at 7:15 p.m.

2007 ONU graduate Bryan Beckwit stars in this exploratory drama. The play deals with this complex question: How did Adolf, a sensitive child who dreamt of becoming an artist, become Hitler, one of history's most tyrannical figures? Follow Adolf's life from his childhood until he joins the German Workers Party at age 31. The play combines animation, virtuosi acting, classical music, physical acting and other theatrical elements.

Playwright Yagil Eliraz is the grandson of two Holocaust survivors. The Israel native spent eight years researching and writing "A.H.," which was recently nominated for the best Fringe Theatre Show 2008 (Tel Aviv).

Tickets are $15 for general admission. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone orders are accepted with MasterCard, VISA, American Express or Discover by calling 419-772-1900. Online ticketing is also available at
