ONU Presents a Night of Beach Music with Papa Doo Run Run and the ONU Symphony
As part of Homecoming 2009, Ohio Northern University presents "An Evening of Beach Music and Classic Rock featuring Papa Doo Run Run and the Ohio Northern University Symphony" at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m.
The Ohio Northern Symphony opens the evening with three songs, "Conga del Fuego Nuevo" by Arturo Marquez, "Tropical" by Morton Gould and "Danse Bacchanale" by Camille Saint-Saens. The ONU Symphony will then accompany headliners Papa Doo Run Run.
Grammy-nominated Papa Doo Run Run has played for audiences worldwide since 1965, performing Beach Boys' hits such as "Barbara Ann," "Good Vibrations" and "Surfin' U.S.A."
Formed in California, Papa Doo Run Run toured North America with surf music icons Jan & Dean from 1976-80. In the '80s, the group began two decades of touring and recording with members of the Beach Boys. The group also had an unprecedented 15-year run as the "Celebrity House Band" at Disneyland from 1975-90.
Papa Doo Run Run still averages approximately 100 dates a year worldwide. Their act encompasses all the great classic rock hits of the '60s and '70s, with a special emphasis on their award-winning re-creation of the hits of the Beach Boys.
