ONU Chamber Orchestra makes tour stops in Chicago, Columbus

The Ohio Northern University Chamber Orchestra will be on its debut tour from January 25-28, 2007.

Performances are scheduled at Holy Name Church in Columbus on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. and the Music Institute of Chicago in Evanston, Illinois on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 8 p.m. . The tour concert titled, Mozart by Moonlight, will feature works by monumental composers, Bach, Mozart and Boccherini as well as others.

The concert will highlight the many talents of ONU students including: Tara Findley, a senior music education major from Wooster, Ohio, performing Mozart's Oboe Concerto in C major; pharmacy majors Cynthia Brucato from Ashland, Ohio, on violin and Tasha Hissett, from Cincinnati, Ohio on cello performing Yehezkel Braun's Trio IV; Anastasia Barkett, pharmacy major from Parma Heights, Ohio on violin, Kara Stechschulte, senior biology/music major from Columbus Grove, Ohio on flute, and Jacquelyn Ratcliffe, junior music performance/education major from Valley City, Ohio also on flute performing Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 by J.S. Bach. The concert also features the work of senior music composition major Michael Oberhauser from Maumee, Ohio.

The ONU Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra is a highly select group of students, local professionals and faculty who perform a great selection of symphony orchestra repertoire. 

The orchestra recently gave the world premiere performance of prominent Israeli composer, Yehezkel Braun's newest work, Quomodo Sedet Sola. The orchestra has performed the great standards of Beethoven, Lizst, Bach, Mozart and many more. They have performed with world renowned artists such as: Van Cliburn, Janos Starker, Jack Jones, The Modern Mandolin Quartet, and will perform in an upcoming concert with Grammy award winner, Petula Clark.

The tour will conclude with a home concert in Snyder Recital Hall at Presser Hall on Saturday February 3 at 8pm. This program will include the University Singers performing Mozart's Coronation Mass.
